This Wednesday’s Elevations Academy is the talk of the town.

Recently, the event was featured on the front page of the business section in the Sunday Gazette-Mail. You can check out the article HERE.

There is still time to register to be a part of West Virginia’s premier professional development and networking event for women. The program has been submitted for approval for CLE and CE credit. It also includes a donation drop off for Dress for Success.

About the Program

Without her influence the state of West Virginia might not have happened. This woman, an African American slave “married” to her white owner, fought legal courageous battles to gain custody of their child after the Civil War. This group of volunteer women founded Kanawha County’s first low-income housing project.

Who are they and what lessons can they teach today’s businesswomen and community leaders is the focus of the fourth annual Elevations Academy, West Virginia’s premier professional development and networking event for women.

The half-day program will be presented by the Charleston Area Alliance Elevations Professional Women’s Network on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Embassy Suites, from 11:15 a.m.-5 p.m. The event is expected to draw 300 young professional and executive women.

Using the state’s 150th sesquicentennial celebration and “Imagine Charleston,” (the city of Charleston comprehensive and downtown revitalization plan), as launching pads for discussion, “We Built this City” will empower attendees to take risks, take action and take the lead to move their businesses and their community forward.

The event will be submitted for continuing education credit for CPAs, lawyers and insurance professionals.

“Our region faces unprecedented opportunity. However, we cannot fully realize these possibilities without the engagement and leadership of women at all levels and in all spheres — business, politics and in civic and community groups,” said JoEllen Zacks, senior vice president of the Charleston Area Alliance.

“Our goal is to empower attendees to take risks to fulfill their own potential and help build a stronger future for our region.”
