Citizen Police Academy Starts Feb. 8

The 16th annual Citizen Police Academy Class is scheduled for Tuesday evenings starting Feb. 8 and will graduate May 3, unless extended to May 10 due to a weather cancellation.

Class 16 applications are being accepted from now through Jan. 10. Applicants must be at least 18 years old by Feb. 8 and will be disqualified if a check of their police records indicates any serious misdemeanor or felony offenses.

Members of the public are invited to attend the class sessions to learn more about the Charleston Police Department and their roles as citizens. It is now a requirement for those interested in becoming a NAO/VIPS volunteer to graduate from the Citizen Police Academy.
