Find Your Place in the Community

GC CircleGeneration Charleston’s Professional Development Work Team is hosting a workshop entitled “Non-Profit Marketplace: Where Can You Fit Into Your Community?” The purpose of this workshop is to help the Generation Charleston membership more fully understand the non-profit landscape and opportunities within that exist in our community.

The event is scheduled for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 30 at BrickStreet Insurance, 400 Quarrier St.

This workshop will include a brief presentation on volunteerism and ways of giving with speakers: community volunteer James R. Thomas and former Generation Charleston Co-Chair Matthew Kingery. The brief presentation will discuss the following three areas of service:

1) Volunteerism
2) Board Member Volunteerism
3) Ways of Giving

After the workshop presentation, attendees will be invited to talk with participating non-profits about their opportunities for involvement during a small reception.

The following non-profit organizations will be on hand to speak with attendees: Alzheimer’s Association, American Lung Association, Appalachian Reading Center, College Summit, Family Connections, Family Counseling Center, Goodwill, Kanawha County Public Library, Mannameal, Make-a-Wish, MS Society, Planned Parenthood, United Way and YWCA of Charleston.
